In Kharar, Punjab, India, a 46-year-old cab driver was allegedly murdered by his 17-year-old daughter and her 21-year-old associate, Vikas Shah, after he opposed their relationship. The incident reportedly took place on the night of May 1, when the girl claimed to need medical assistance for severe stomach pain. She lured her father out of the house, where Shah allegedly killed him by slitting his throat before disposing of the body in the Morinda canal. The victim's wife discovered he was missing the following day and, after questioning their children, learned of her daughter's involvement. Both suspects have been arrested; the girl has been placed in juvenile care while Shah was presented in court. Police are intensifying search efforts in the canal area to locate the victim's body. Charges have been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code).
