In a bizarre event in Keonjhar district, Odisha, Jeetu Munda, a 50-year-old tribal man from Dianali village, brought the skeleton of his deceased sister, Kalra Munda, to the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in an attempt to withdraw ₹20,000 from her account. Kalra, who passed away on January 26, 2026, had her account frozen as she was no longer living. Jeetu expressed his frustration, stating that bank officials insisted he bring the account holder to withdraw the funds, despite his explanations of her death. Police Inspector Kiran Prasad Sahu noted that Jeetu, being illiterate, was unaware of the legal processes involved in accessing a deceased person's account. After the incident, local authorities assured Jeetu that they would help him withdraw the money. The skeleton was later reburied with police oversight. The Block Development Officer, Manas Dandpat, confirmed that he was not previously informed about the situation but would work to resolve the matter. Notably, the nominee on Kalra's account is also deceased, making Jeetu the only claimant to the funds.
