A gang of four men from Durg district in Chhattisgarh, India, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly selling fake tickets for the IPL 2026 matches. The accused—Rajendra Choudhary, Vishwajeet Sahu, Shrikant Borkar, and Nutan Kumar Sahu—reportedly used artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT and graphic design software CorelDRAW to create counterfeit tickets that closely resembled authentic ones. They had previously attempted to sell these fake tickets outside Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium but were unsuccessful due to discrepancies in quality and barcode details. Their operation came to light during a recent match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, where one victim, Pradeep Singh from Orai, purchased a fake ticket for ₹1,000 (approximately $12 USD) and was denied entry. Police tracked the gang using details from a UPI payment made during the transaction, leading to the recovery of four smartphones, a laptop, 15 fake tickets, and various identification documents. Investigators noted that the gang capitalized on high demand for tickets during major IPL matches to sell their counterfeits to unsuspecting fans.
