The NEET-UG 2026 examination, scheduled for May 3, has been canceled due to serious allegations of a paper leak and irregularities in the examination process. Gujarat minister Praful Pansheriya announced that students will not need to re-register or pay additional fees when the exam is rescheduled. The decision follows a review by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in coordination with central agencies and law enforcement, which raised concerns about the integrity of the examination. A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry has been initiated to thoroughly investigate the allegations. This cancellation marks the second consecutive year of disruptions for the NEET examination, which faced similar issues in 2025, including biometric authentication glitches and logistical problems at exam centers. The NTA emphasized that the cancellation was necessary to maintain public trust in the examination system, stating that all existing registrations and preferences will remain valid for the re-test, and fees already paid will be refunded.
