A tragic accident occurred on Thursday near the Bhawali Bypass area in Nainital, Uttarakhand, resulting in the deaths of five individuals after their car plunged into a deep gorge. According to local police, the vehicle fell approximately 300 to 400 meters into the gorge. The driver, who was from Lucknow, and four passengers, aged 12, 19, 45, and 59, all from Khatima, were found trapped inside the severely damaged car. DSP Ravikant Semwal reported that the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were alerted to the incident and promptly initiated a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, all five occupants were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The SDRF faced significant challenges during the rescue due to the difficult terrain, but they successfully evacuated the victims with the help of local police and residents. This incident highlights the dangers of driving in hilly regions, especially during adverse conditions.
