A tragic incident occurred in Bocaue, Bulacan, where a 40-year-old delivery rider was killed after being mistaken for a rival. The victim, who lived in Barangay Binang 1st, was attacked while delivering a parcel around 5:30 PM on V. Mauricio Ext. 1 in Barangay Turo. According to Col. Jay Baybayan, the Bulacan police director, the assailants, who were on a motorcycle, initiated the attack by stabbing the victim. Despite his attempts to escape, the second suspect shot him multiple times, resulting in his death.
The police launched a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects. Maj. Jaynalyn Udal, the Bulacan provincial police information officer, revealed that the attack was motivated by revenge, as one of the suspects claimed to have been previously beaten by a delivery rider. However, it was later clarified that the altercation involved a different rider. The police recovered a Hungarian-made Parabellum caliber 9mm pistol, several rounds of ammunition, and a knife from the suspects, highlighting the violent nature of this mistaken identity attack.
