Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that investment proposals exceeding ₹35,000 crore (approximately $4.2 billion USD) are taking shape in the state's six defence industrial corridors located in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. During the closing ceremony of the NorthTech Symposium in Prayagraj, Adityanath highlighted that Aligarh is emerging as a hub for small arms and military supplies, while Kanpur is focusing on ammunition, missiles, and defence textiles. Lucknow is concentrating on BrahMos missiles and heavy defence manufacturing, with Chitrakoot and Agra being developed for precision engineering in aerospace and defence. The state has a strong ecosystem for defence manufacturing, supported by a skilled workforce and a robust base of 96 lakh (9.6 million) operational MSMEs across various sectors. Adityanath also noted that governance reforms and a zero-tolerance policy against crime have significantly improved law and order, making Uttar Pradesh an attractive destination for quality investments.
