Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced significant investment proposals exceeding ₹35,000 crore (approximately $4.2 billion USD) in the state's six defence industrial corridors, which include Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. During the NorthTech Symposium, he highlighted that Aligarh is evolving into a hub for small arms and military supplies, while Kanpur is focusing on ammunition and defence textiles. Lucknow is dedicated to heavy defence manufacturing, particularly BrahMos missiles, and Chitrakoot and Agra are being developed for precision engineering in aerospace. The state government has created a substantial land bank and offers incentives to attract investors through its defence and aerospace policy. Adityanath emphasized that Uttar Pradesh boasts a skilled workforce, with 56% of its manpower qualified for defence manufacturing, and has a strong base of 96 lakh operational micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The government is also collaborating with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to establish a Centre of Excellence for drones. The improved law and order situation in the state has attracted major investors, enhancing Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure and investment landscape.
