Meta has announced the launch of the America's Workforce Academy (AWA), a groundbreaking initiative with an investment of $115 million aimed at training workers in skilled trades at no cost, ensuring job placement for all graduates. The program will initially operate in Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana, and Texas. Graduates will earn a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credential and an America's Workforce Certificate, which will enhance their employability across various sectors. The initiative addresses the growing shortage of skilled labor, particularly in light of infrastructure expansion and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. Meta's commitment is described as the largest private-sector investment in skilled trades with job guarantees in U.S. history. Industry leaders, including Mike Rowe, have praised the program for its innovative approach to training, which allows workers to earn while they learn, eliminating college debt and providing fast certification. Meta is partnering with several organizations to implement this initiative, highlighting the need for a skilled workforce in areas such as electrical work, mechanics, and fiber technology.
