Mahua Moitra (Trinamool Congress MP) characterized the West Bengal assembly elections as a 'fight to save democracy' during her voting at Karimpur Girls High School in Nadia. She alleged that 2.7 million voters had been removed from the electoral rolls and expressed confidence that the remaining voters would turn out in large numbers. Moitra stated, 'People are voting for revenge' against the Central Government and the Election Commission for their actions. The second phase of the elections, which began today, involves 142 constituencies out of the total 294 in West Bengal, with a total electorate of around 3.21 crore. This phase is critical for the ruling TMC as it includes key areas in South Bengal and Kolkata, and authorities have implemented extensive measures to ensure peaceful polling. Following a record voter turnout in the first phase, this round is viewed as a significant indicator of the TMC's strength.
