Long queues were observed outside polling stations, including Basanti Devi College, as voters, including many elderly women, engaged in the electoral process. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has fielded Siddiqullah Chowdhury, a sitting MLA and Minister, who is contesting against Saikat Paja from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jyotirmoy Mandal from Congress, among others. Despite the enthusiasm, local residents raised concerns regarding incomplete development projects, particularly the poor condition of roads and inadequate drinking water supply.
