Ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal assembly elections, Suvendu Adhikari (Leader of Opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party) accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of attempting to rig the vote in the Bhabanipur constituency by procuring over 700 artificial fingers for bogus voting. Adhikari claimed that these artificial fingers were arranged by a TMC councillor to manipulate the election process. He also highlighted irregularities in the distribution of booth slips, stating that 3,810 slips issued by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Bhabanipur were returned undelivered. The TMC, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has strongly denied these allegations, with party spokesperson Arup Chakraborty calling them completely unfounded. The second phase of polling for West Bengal's 294-member assembly is scheduled for April 29, following the first phase held on April 23.
