Harman Singh Kapoor, a restaurateur in London, has announced plans to take legal action against the Metropolitan Police and Mayor Sadiq Khan following his nearly 24-hour detention, which he describes as an illegal arrest. Kapoor, who operates the non-halal restaurant Rangrez in Hammersmith, claims he faced continuous discriminatory treatment linked to his promotion of non-halal food, which aligns with his Sikh faith. He expressed his frustration on social media, stating he was released from custody but immediately returned to work to support his family. Kapoor's wife also defended him, accusing the authorities of targeting him due to his ambitions to improve London. The controversy surrounding Rangrez intensified after the restaurant displayed signs indicating its non-halal status and organized a “Non Halal meetup” to document disturbances. Kapoor is now considering shutting down the restaurant due to ongoing harassment and backlash.
