Following the election results, Dutta experienced backlash within the TMC, leading to his suspension along with other spokespersons for breaching party discipline. His apology, which he stated was not personal, was made under the advice of BJP leaders, hinting at possible future political alignments. Dutta's recent comments praising the BJP's measures against post-poll violence have raised speculation about his political future.
