The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, initiated by the Aam Aadmi Party-led government in Punjab, aims to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses for families across the state. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted that the scheme provides cashless health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family annually, encompassing a wide range of treatments from surgeries to neonatal care. Since its launch, the program has benefited over 1.59 lakh families, facilitating more than 3.11 lakh medical procedures and providing total support exceeding ₹522 crore. This initiative addresses the common issue of families facing financial distress due to medical costs, which often lead to debt and long-term poverty. The scheme includes nearly 2,300 health benefit packages across 839 hospitals, both public and private, making healthcare more accessible. Additionally, registration is simple and can be done at local centers with basic identification. With over 44 lakh health cards issued, the program is gaining traction, particularly in districts like Ludhiana and Patiala, transforming how families approach healthcare.
