Hajj 2026 is scheduled for late May, and Saudi Arabia has introduced stringent new rules for pilgrims. A significant change is the Umrah visa's validity, which now allows only 30 days to enter the country after issuance, down from three months. Pilgrims must also ensure they have confirmed hotel bookings through the Nusuk app before applying for an Umrah visa. Fines for illegal Hajj attempts can reach SAR 20,000, while assisting violators could incur penalties of up to SAR 100,000. The quota for Indian pilgrims is set at 175,025, with 70% of seats allocated through the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) and 30% through private operators. A new 20-day Short Hajj package is introduced for professionals, limited to 10,000 pilgrims, selected via a lottery system. Senior citizens must travel with a companion, and all pilgrims are required to show proof of vaccinations.
