The introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train service is set to transform long-distance travel in India, significantly improving the Mumbai-Bengaluru route. Scheduled for launch in 2026, this service aims to reduce the travel time to approximately 12-13 hours from the current 18 hours. The first sleeper service was inaugurated in January 2026, running between Howrah in West Bengal and Kamakhya in Assam. The Mumbai-Bengaluru route will also benefit passengers traveling to Pune, enhancing connectivity among key economic and educational centers in western and southern India. The new sleeper trains will boast modern features, including fully air-conditioned coaches, ergonomic berths, and advanced safety systems, accommodating over 800 passengers. While official fare details are pending, a premium yet competitive pricing structure is anticipated, reflecting the enhanced comfort and facilities offered by this service.
