On Monday, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered local officials to strictly prohibit loud noise from weddings and other functions after 10 pm, emphasizing the disturbance it causes to the public, particularly children and the elderly. This directive follows a public interest litigation filed by Dharampal Yadav, who sought a ban on commercial activities in Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow. The court instructed the state and police authorities, along with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), to take necessary actions in line with a previous Supreme Court order. Furthermore, the court mandated that all 18 divisional commissioners and district magistrates conduct surveys of parks and open spaces in their areas and compile a list for government regulation under the Uttar Pradesh Parks, Playgrounds, and Open Spaces Preservation and Regulation Act of 1975. The court expressed concern over the environmental impact of commercial activities in parks and directed the LDA to reassess such uses, particularly regarding their effects on wildlife. The court's measures aim to ensure a peaceful environment for residents and protect public health.
