On Thursday evening, a Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulance from Safdarjung Hospital was engulfed in flames near the Moti Bagh flyover in Delhi. The incident occurred around 7:20 P.M. when a short circuit ignited a fire in the conductor-side seat of the vehicle. Fortunately, the ambulance was empty as it was returning from dropping off a patient at Samalkha, leading to no reported injuries. The driver parked the vehicle and contacted the fire department as the flames spread, causing an oxygen cylinder within the ambulance to ignite as well. Fire tenders arrived quickly and managed to control the fire. Additionally, teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were called to investigate the incident and gather evidence, including determining if the ambulance was equipped with a CNG cylinder.
