In response to severe water scarcity during the summer months, the Gujarat Forest Department has ramped up its Jal-Parab campaign in the Little Rann of Kutch, located in Surendranagar district. This initiative involves the installation of artificial water troughs and the operation of regular water tanker services to ensure a steady water supply in the region's fragile desert ecosystem. Beat Guard Jagdish K Patel emphasized the extensive arrangements made by the Gujarat government for wildlife conservation, including rescue facilities and food provisions for animals and birds. As temperatures can soar above 42 degrees Celsius, the campaign is vital for species like the Indian Wild Ass and nilgai, which rely on these water sources. Forest Guard V R Parmar noted that the initiative aims to prevent wildlife from straying outside their natural habitats in search of water.
