In response to severe water scarcity during the summer months, the Gujarat Forest Department has launched an intensified Jal-Parab campaign in the Little Rann of Kutch, located in Surendranagar district. This initiative involves the installation of artificial water troughs and the operation of regular water tanker services to ensure a steady water supply for wildlife. Beat Guard Jagdish K Patel emphasized the Gujarat government's commitment to wildlife conservation, which includes rescue facilities and food and water support for various species. With temperatures soaring above 42 degrees Celsius, the campaign is vital for species such as the Indian Wild Ass and nilgai, which rely on these water sources to remain within their natural habitats. Forest Guard V R Parmar highlighted the importance of water tanks and saucer cups for birds, aimed at preventing wildlife from migrating in search of water. The ongoing monitoring and operations under the Jal-Parab initiative are critical for strengthening biodiversity conservation and climate resilience efforts in this fragile desert ecosystem.
