The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heatwave-like conditions in several plain districts of Uttarakhand, including Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, and Champawat, from May 25 to 27. In response, the State Emergency Operations Centre has issued an advisory urging all districts to remain vigilant and prepare for the heatwave. Emergency Operation Centres will operate continuously, coordinating with the Health Department to ensure the availability of essential medical supplies, including medicines and oral rehydration solutions (ORS). Local urban bodies are tasked with providing drinking water and cooling facilities at public venues, while the Power and Drinking Water Departments are instructed to maintain uninterrupted services. Additionally, outdoor workers are encouraged to limit their work hours to cooler parts of the day, and the public is advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours. These measures aim to mitigate the health risks associated with the impending heatwave.
