A four-member team from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) visited Abhishek Banerjee's residence in Kolkata on Wednesday to serve a summons linked to an alleged primary school recruitment scam. Banerjee, a prominent leader of the Trinamool Congress, is required to report to the ED office at the Central Government Office (CGO) Complex in Salt Lake on June 15. The officials waited outside his home for over 15 minutes to deliver the summons personally. This summons comes amid a significant internal crisis within the Trinamool Congress, as 58 party MLAs are reportedly rebelling against the leadership. Additionally, Banerjee has been summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning on June 8 regarding alleged mismatches in signatures of Trinamool legislators. In response to these developments, Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking protection from coercive actions, including arrest, related to the CID case. He is also expected to travel to New Delhi on June 8 with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc.
