In a devastating series of terror attacks, nearly 700 civilians have lost their lives in Sudan since the start of 2023, amid what the United Nations has termed the world's largest humanitarian crisis. As the civil war, now in its fourth year, continues between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), millions have been displaced, with entire communities uprooted. UN Aid Chief Tom Fletcher emphasized the urgent need for action, stating that last year humanitarian efforts reached 17 million people, with a goal to assist 20 million this year, although the response remains critically underfunded. The conflict has also led to over 11,000 missing persons since its escalation in April 2023, with the International Committee of the Red Cross reporting a sharp increase in this figure. The situation has deteriorated further, illustrated by a recent drone strike that killed 17 civilians attending a funeral in Chad, allegedly carried out by the RSF.
