The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has announced that traveling the 594-km Ganga Expressway connecting Meerut and Prayagraj will cost light motor vehicle owners ₹1,514.70 starting from the 2026-27 fiscal year. The toll rates are structured at ₹2.55 per kilometer for cars, jeeps, and vans, while two-wheelers and three-wheelers will be charged ₹1.28 per kilometer. Heavier vehicles such as buses and trucks will face a toll of ₹8.20 per kilometer, and multi-axle vehicles will pay up to ₹16.10 per kilometer, the highest rate on the expressway. To enhance the expressway's quality, UPEIDA has partnered with ETH Zurich University and RTDT Laboratories AG from Switzerland to implement artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor-based systems for monitoring road conditions. This technology aims to detect and rectify road defects during construction, ensuring a smoother ride. Additionally, security measures will include patrol vehicles and emergency services stationed every 50 kilometers.
