The Ganga Expressway, stretching 594 km across Uttar Pradesh, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29. This ambitious project aims to serve as a major transport corridor while also facilitating industrial and economic growth. Designed as a six-lane expressway, it can be expanded to eight lanes, connecting Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in the east. The expressway is expected to decrease travel time between these two cities from 12 hours to 6-8 hours, significantly enhancing passenger mobility and freight movement.

The Uttar Pradesh government has positioned the Ganga Expressway as an expressway-cum-industrial growth corridor, with ₹46,660 crore in investment proposals already lined up. The project will include the development of 12 industrial nodes across various districts, creating a robust industrial ecosystem and improving logistics efficiency.

The expressway will feature two main toll plazas and 19 entry and exit points, with toll collection expected to begin on May 1. While exact toll rates are yet to be confirmed, estimates suggest charges for cars could be around ₹1,515 for the entire stretch. This infrastructure project is anticipated to reshape the economic landscape of Uttar Pradesh, particularly in less industrialized regions, by fostering job creation and linking production centers to markets more efficiently.
