Along with him, six other AAP MPs have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which now accounts for two-thirds of AAP's strength in the Rajya Sabha. In response, social activist Anna Hazare stated that individuals have the right to make political decisions and urged AAP leadership to examine why such exits occur. He emphasized that there are often deeper reasons behind political departures that should be understood in the context of democracy. Chadha's exit follows a recent controversy where he was removed as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, escalating tensions within the party. He expressed his disillusionment with AAP, stating, 'Today, the AAP is corrupt and compromised.' The AAP has condemned Chadha's actions as a betrayal of the people of Punjab.
