Urban Company, a home services platform based in Gurugram, India, reported a staggering 57-fold increase in net loss, reaching ₹161 crore in the March quarter of FY26, compared to just ₹2.8 crore a year earlier. This surge in losses is attributed to significant investments in its on-demand domestic help service, InstaHelp, which saw revenue from operations rise by 43% year-on-year to ₹425.5 crore. Urban Company's founder and CEO, Abhiraj Singh Bhal, stated that the company is prioritizing market share over short-term profitability, indicating that losses may remain elevated as they compete aggressively against rivals such as Snabbit and Pronto. The company also wrote off tax benefits worth nearly ₹36 crore, further exacerbating its financial situation. Despite the challenges, InstaHelp has grown rapidly, achieving 2.7 million orders by year-end, with expectations of continued investment in the service. Urban Company's total net transaction value (NTV) for the quarter was ₹1,148 crore, reflecting a 42% year-on-year increase. The company's shares fell 6.02% to ₹137.8 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) following the report.
