The Maharashtra Directorate of Primary Education has extended the confirmation deadline for Right to Education (RTE) admissions to April 30, 2026. This decision follows a slow confirmation response, with only 42,827 of the 2,89,286 applicants confirming their admissions as of April 21. The RTE lottery, conducted on April 10, selected 1,05,811 candidates for the 25% quota for the academic year 2026-27. Last year, over 88,000 students confirmed their admissions under this quota. Sharad Gosavi, the Director of Primary Education, emphasized that parents facing technical issues can contact local education officers for assistance. He also dispelled rumors regarding the necessity of having a rent agreement dated before the RTE process, clarifying that the agreement can be dated on the same day as document confirmation, provided it is genuine. Parents are encouraged to verify their selection by checking the RTE portal and visiting their respective Group Education Officer for document verification.

The extended deadline allows parents more time to complete the admission process, which is crucial for ensuring that their children can access education under the RTE scheme.
