In a tragic incident at the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector project site in Parel, Mumbai, 19-year-old laborer Ravi Giri lost his life after being struck by a steel frame. The accident occurred around 12:10 am on Tuesday while workers were transporting steel frames using a crane. Preliminary reports indicate that Giri was standing on the crane when a steel plate shifted and struck him, causing severe injuries to his stomach and chest. He was rushed to KEM Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 3 am. The Bhoiwada police have registered a case against crane operator Mohammad Anas Shaikh and site supervisor Anil Giri for negligence under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The supervisor was reportedly absent during the incident. Both individuals have been served notices and allowed to leave as the investigation continues.
