The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has collaborated with Airtel Payments Bank to launch co-branded RuPay cards equipped with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) functionality. This new initiative aims to provide commuters with a seamless payment experience across various transit systems, including metro networks and buses, throughout India. DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar emphasized that this partnership aligns with the government's One-Nation-One-Card vision, designed to simplify transit payments nationwide. The cards, which include Debit cards and Prepaid Payment Instrument for Mass Transit Systems (PPI–MTS) cards, will allow users to pay for travel in multiple cities using a single card. They will be made available at all DMRC stations within the next 10 days, ensuring easy access for commuters. Additionally, users can recharge their cards digitally via the DMRC or Airtel app, significantly enhancing convenience and reducing wait times at stations. Existing DMRC-issued cards will continue to operate as usual, marking a significant step toward integrating digital payments into everyday commuting.
