On Friday in Dugri, Ludhiana district, Punjab, food delivery workers assaulted four men they believed were planning to rob one of their colleagues, known as Manjot, alias Goldy. The incident unfolded around 2 am when Goldy alerted his fellow workers via a conference call, stating he was being followed. Approximately 40 delivery workers had formed a WhatsApp group for safety, leading to a coordinated response. Upon locating Goldy, they confronted and overpowered four of the six alleged suspects, one of whom was reportedly armed with a sharp weapon. However, police officials, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Karanveer Singh, stated that there was no concrete evidence linking the suspects to any crime. They indicated that the delivery workers had taken matters into their own hands instead of reporting to the police. Following the incident, the injured men filed a complaint against the delivery workers for assault, prompting police to consider registering a case against them while continuing to verify the role of the apprehended men.
