Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently secured victories in both the Bhabanipur and Nandigram assembly constituencies during the West Bengal elections. He announced on Wednesday that he would vacate one of the two seats within 10 days, with the decision on which seat to retain resting with the party's central leadership. Adhikari's victory in Bhabanipur, where he defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by over 15,000 votes, marked a significant political shift, undermining Banerjee's long-standing stronghold. He urged his supporters to refrain from immediate victory celebrations and to maintain peace until the new government is formed on May 9. Furthermore, Adhikari pledged to improve local infrastructure, including drinking water supply and hospital facilities, while expressing his ambition for the BJP to remain in power for the next 100 years in West Bengal.
