Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for what he termed 'dramabazi' during her visit to a counting centre in Bhabanipur. He stated that her theatrical actions, including her four-hour stay at the centre, would not alter the election results. Adhikari, who is contesting against Banerjee in Bhabanipur and also seeking re-election from Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district, expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious. He dismissed Banerjee's allegations of tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), suggesting her desperation was evident as she anticipated defeat. The situation became tense as protests erupted outside the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra in north Kolkata, where TMC candidates alleged irregularities with EVMs, leading to confrontations between TMC and BJP supporters. The final election results are expected to be announced by May 4.
