The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has expressed serious concerns over alleged disruptions in CCTV surveillance at strongrooms in West Bengal, where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) are stored. Party leaders met with West Bengal Chief Election Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, claiming that these disruptions violate the Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines, which mandate continuous CCTV monitoring with access for authorized party representatives. TMC's demands include a comprehensive report on all instances of CCTV malfunctions, full access to unedited recordings, restoration of uninterrupted surveillance, and continuous access to the surveillance feeds. TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has warned of a strong response to any EVM tampering, emphasizing the seriousness of the issue. In response, the Election Commission has rejected TMC's allegations, stating that all procedures were followed and that the strongrooms were secured post-polling in the presence of candidates and observers.
