The Haryana government has announced an extension for the Smart Cities projects in Karnal and Faridabad until March 31, 2027. This decision was made during a meeting of the State-Level High-Powered Steering Committee (SLHPSC), chaired by Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. The extension aims to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects and the smooth transfer of assets to relevant departments. The Smart City Mission, launched by the central government in 2015, focuses on improving urban living standards through enhanced infrastructure and services. In Faridabad, the Smart City project encompasses 46 projects valued at ₹916.83 crore, with 32 already completed. Karnal's project includes 122 projects worth ₹930 crore, of which 86 have been completed. Both cities have effectively utilized the allocated funds, receiving a total of ₹980 crore from the Union and Haryana governments, shared equally.
