The inaugural Air India flight from Delhi to the newly developed Halwara Civil Terminal in Ludhiana district, Punjab, landed at 7.05 am on Friday. Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with Rajya Sabha MPs Vikramjit Sahney and Rajinder Gupta, were among the first passengers. Bittu celebrated the flight as a historic milestone, fulfilling a 30-year-old demand and promising economic growth for the region. The Halwara airport, developed by expanding an Indian Air Force base, aims to enhance trade and exports from Ludhiana. Although a ceremonial water cannon salute was planned to welcome the flight, it was canceled last minute due to security concerns. Air India has scheduled two daily round trips for the Delhi-Halwara route, with the first flight departing Delhi at 5.55 am and returning from Halwara at 7.55 am.
