The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which operates under the Amul brand, has increased the price of milk by ₹2 per litre across India, effective from May 14. This hike is attributed to rising operational costs, particularly in cattle feed, milk packaging, and fuel. The increase translates to approximately 2.5-3.5% per litre, which is lower than the average food inflation rate. In Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh, revised prices for Amul milk variants include ₹27 for a 500 ml pack of Amul Slim N milk, ₹30 for Taaza, ₹31 for cow milk, and ₹36 for Gold milk. Buffalo milk prices have risen by ₹4 to ₹80 per litre. Additionally, GCMMF has raised the procurement price for farmers by ₹30 per kg of fat, marking a 3.7% increase since May 2025. The federation, which supports around 3.6 million farmers, reported an 11% growth in turnover, surpassing ₹1 lakh crore in the last financial year, driven by increasing demand for dairy products.
