Rohit Rana, a 21-year-old resident of Nirpura village in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, India, died after allegedly attempting suicide at the Bhadal police outpost where he was being questioned regarding a theft case. The incident occurred on May 2, prompting outrage and immediate administrative action. Authorities suspended Suresh Kumar, the outpost in-charge, along with two constables for prima facie negligence. Following the suicide attempt, police personnel intervened and rushed Rana to a Community Health Centre in Budhana, but he was later declared dead at the district hospital. In response, Baghpat Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai ordered a magisterial inquiry and the preparation of an FIR based on the deceased's family's complaint. A field unit and forensic team have also collected evidence from the scene.
