On Saturday, police discovered the body of 28-year-old Suraj Gautam, a contractual sanitation worker at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, near a lake in the Bijnor police station area. The victim had suffered severe injuries to his face and head, making identification challenging. Suraj left his home in Ashraf Nagar Ithuriya village around 8:30 PM on Friday, intending to visit Bijnor, but failed to return. His family reported that his phone was switched off later that night, prompting them to search for him. Villagers found his body the next morning in a vacant plot near the lake, with signs of a violent attack, including injuries consistent with a heavy object and possibly a sharp-edged weapon. Suraj's family confirmed his identity despite the injuries and noted that his mobile phone and wallet were missing. His mother stated that he was not involved in drinking or substance abuse, raising further concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
