Dua Lipa, the English pop star, has initiated a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the company of using her image on cardboard packaging for its TVs without her permission or compensation. The lawsuit, first reported by Variety, alleges copyright and trademark infringement, as well as unauthorized commercial exploitation. Lipa discovered the use of her likeness around June 2025 and demanded that Samsung cease its use, but claims the company's response was 'dismissive and callous.' The lawsuit contends that Samsung has profited from Lipa's image, misleading consumers into believing she endorses the product. Furthermore, Lipa's legal team asserts that she owns the copyright to the photograph used, taken at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024. This legal action is not Samsung's first encounter with litigation regarding its TVs, as the company was previously sued for using ad-targeting spyware. Samsung has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
