Vijay, the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has successfully garnered the necessary support to form the government in Tamil Nadu, achieving a total of 120 MLAs with the help of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). The VCK's unconditional support was confirmed in a letter from its leader, Vanni Arasu, while IUML also shifted allegiance to support TVK after initially siding with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). This coalition comes after a prolonged political deadlock where Vijay struggled to reach the magic number of 118 MLAs needed for majority governance. Initially, TVK secured 108 seats but will have to vacate one due to Vijay's dual wins, effectively lowering their count to 107. The support from Congress, CPI, and CPI(M) has been crucial in bolstering TVK's position. However, managing a coalition with such a slim majority poses significant challenges, as any rebellion among MLAs could jeopardize Vijay's leadership. The coalition's dynamics may also compel Vijay to address key demands from the opposition, particularly on critical issues.
