Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the general secretary of the AIADMK party in Tamil Nadu, firmly stated that there were no discussions with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regarding forming a government after the recent Assembly elections resulted in a fractured mandate. He countered claims made by rebel leader C.Ve. Shanmugam, asserting that the rebel AIADMK MLAs, including former Ministers, supported the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government's confidence motion out of a desire for ministerial positions. Palaniswami alleged that the support was secured with promises of six Cabinet berths and various board chairperson roles. He criticized the actions of the rebel MLAs, arguing they misled their colleagues and violated principles of law and justice. Furthermore, he pointed out that the TVK holds only 106 MLAs, with nearly 66% of voters opposing them. Palaniswami reiterated that the AIADMK leadership was determined to maintain party integrity and legality amidst internal conflicts.
