DMK leader TKS Elangovan has publicly criticized Vijay (leader of the Tamil Nadu-based Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi, or TVK) for his approach to forming a government amid the ongoing deadlock in Tamil Nadu. Elangovan stated that Vijay should secure support from political parties before approaching Governor RV Arlekar. Currently, Vijay claims to have the backing of 112 seats in the Assembly, but this falls short of the required majority of 118. Elangovan noted that had Vijay approached the Governor as the single-largest party, he might have been invited to form the government. The situation has been complicated by allegations from AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran, who accused TVK of forging support letters, a claim that TVK has denied. The political situation remains uncertain, with TVK receiving support from Congress and the CPI(M), while AMMK and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) have clarified they will not back Vijay. The VCK is expected to announce its position soon, adding further complexity to the political landscape in Tamil Nadu.
