Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched 13 mobile heat relief units across each district on Wednesday to provide immediate assistance to residents during the summer months. These units will dispense chilled drinking water, ORS packets, first-aid supplies, and other essentials to those in need, operating daily from 11 am to 6 pm in high-traffic and heat-prone areas such as labor chowks, bus stands, and markets. Each unit is equipped with a 400 to 500-litre cold water tank and will distribute approximately 1,000 ORS packets, 300 cotton towels, and 200 caps daily. The initiative also includes the deployment of 10 civil defense volunteers in every district to aid operations. Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that relief directly reaches those who need it, particularly vulnerable groups like daily wage laborers, street vendors, and senior citizens. Additionally, she released the “Heat Action Plan 2026” booklet, which outlines a comprehensive strategy to address rising temperatures and protect residents.
