On Friday, Dimple Arora, a 47-year-old woman employed at the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) office in Karnal, was shot dead outside her home in Sector 9 during her lunch break. The incident occurred in broad daylight, and CCTV footage captured the assailant following her on a motorcycle before parking nearby. As Arora was locking her two-wheeler, the attacker approached her with a pistol concealed in cloth and shot her at close range. Despite being rushed to Kalpana Chawla Medical College and Hospital, she was declared dead on arrival due to a bullet wound to the head. Her son, Devansh Arora, was away at the time and initially thought she had fainted from the heat. Neighbors reported hearing loud sounds, prompting the family to review CCTV footage, which revealed the shooting. Karnal Superintendent of Police Narender Bijarniya stated that the investigation is in its early stages, with efforts focused on identifying the shooter and determining the motive behind this shocking crime.
