Authorities believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, with the intended target being the restaurant's proprietor, who has a criminal history. Eyewitnesses, including a group of British tourists, reported the chaos and panic that ensued. The investigation is being spearheaded by the Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia (DDA), which specializes in organized crime, as they look into potential connections to another recent murder in the area.
