Ananta Banaji Gawari (52), the Nayab Tehsildar of Junnar in Pune district, India, tragically lost his life in a road accident on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM at a sharp S-curve near Ganpati Phata, where a speeding truck collided head-on with Gawari's car. He was returning from distributing invitation cards for a program scheduled for May 1 when the accident happened. The impact was severe, resulting in serious injuries to Gawari and the car driver, Vijay Khartode, a senior clerk in the tehsildar’s office. Gawari succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Pune for treatment. Another passenger, Tushar Bhimrao Korde (35), sustained minor injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck, driven by Ganesh Jadhav (27), lost control due to high speed. The truck driver has been arrested and charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigations are being conducted by the Otur police.
