An assault investigation in Ludhiana, Punjab, initiated on March 10, has uncovered an extortion racket in the Salem Tabri area. The complainant, a resident of Aman Nagar, accused local residents Jagjit Singh (alias Bablu) and Rajwinder Singh of conspiring to extort ₹11 lakh (approximately $13,200 USD) from his family by threatening to file complaints against their factory. Following the investigation, police arrested three individuals and identified two more suspects who are currently at large. The accused allegedly used fake identity cards to pose as government officials, intimidating victims and demanding money. The police have recovered several fake documents and have expanded the charges to include organized crime. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine the full extent of the racket and the number of victims involved.
