The case surrounding the death of 31-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has taken a new turn due to procedural lapses in her postmortem examination. It has been revealed that the ligature material, which is critical for forensic analysis, was not submitted at the time of the initial examination. This oversight led authorities to send the ligature material to AIIMS Bhopal for a fresh examination, which is expected to provide insights into the circumstances of her death. Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home, and her family has accused her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, of murder and dowry harassment. They allege that Twisha faced sustained mental harassment and was coerced into terminating her pregnancy, with claims of dowry demands amounting to nearly ₹20 lakh (approximately $24,000 USD). The postmortem report indicated that Twisha had multiple injuries and that she was alive at the time of hanging, raising further questions about the nature of her death. Investigators have collected additional evidence, including viscera and blood samples for toxicology tests, as the case continues to unfold.
